John I'm a huge fan you got really nice hand but I'd like to see your toes lol anyway the something I.tested last night with traditional rice pudding with extra cinnamon and caraway then peach jam just not loads of sugar but use orange Lentils the thinker the jam or Stewed peaches orange made the fruit tasty and healthier
A little late to the party, but tried this last weekend with the following modifications: used half black and half red lentils (whole, not split), vegan broth and a bay leaf! Awesome! I've been so used to using lentils of ANY kind in curries… love that I've got a whole new world now. Thx.
Please bring us more videos with lentils cooked a little more firm. Possibly using a salad, possibly used in a salad that is put in a burrito wrap🤔 Definitely more lentil videos
I hear there is a conspiracy theory going around saying that lentils are not only the best food on earth they are nutritious and economical as well. Don’t tell nobody!
Chef John: "it's so thyme-consuming to pick off the leaves from the stems…" Chef John 2 minutes later: "I wont' be making any thyme-related puns in this video" 😀
Chef, Just a tip: for thyme, grasp the tip of the sprig in your left hand, then pull between the thumb and forefinger of the right…all the tiny leaves will fall right off….easy, peasy. Another tip: savory might suit this better than thyme…just a suggestion.
Νice chef, but please when you are cooking something vegan or vegetarian can you not put animal's stock in the food? Keep it vegan and healthy! Thanks. 🙂
Coconut oil is a better choice. It has a high smoking point. Olive oil has a low smoking point. Olive oil turns into trans fat on high heat. It is better raw on fresh salads.😇
Can you soak belugas and if so how long? Cook faster after soaking and pouring off water
Thank you so much for your recipe!! I tried this one tonight with similar ingredients that I had on hand, and it turned out delicious.
Superb as usual uncle John splendid XXX
"You are the Springsteen of your lentil bean."

Looks super easy – love it. Have a 25 pound bag of black lentils and looking for some new ways to cook them. Thanks!
Your character and spirit are fun and refreshing! ^_^
Making this recipe in Berlin as we speak, but using brown lentils. Thanks Chef John, I love this channel.
I make this and brown some kielbasa or other good sausage, slice into 1/2 inch chunks and finish cooking in the lentils
delicious 😋

You seriously are so awesome! “I wanna burn my finger duh” 😂😂😂😂
Ps i have mastered beef goulash thanks to you!
3:27 “why didn’t u just use your freakishly small wooden spoon. Isn’t it obvious? I wanted to burn my fingertips….duh!”
Ok that made me chuckle 😆
He's right about the thyme puns. Who has thyme for that?
2:35 Don't worry, I'm one of "those people" and we judge you behind your back either… 😏😉
But you already made a pun. "Thyme-consuming".
just made this… came out so good, great tip on the vinegar at the end!! thank you for this will be making it more often
R these the same black lentils that CaVa uses in their bowls? I love those but don’t know the name
Eat this with Spätzle and you have a very tasty original Swabian (southern Germany) dish.
dope. Made this recipe with sauteed sugar snap peas and chicken – absolutely delicious even in 2020.
can i use brown or green lentils instead??
Made this with green lentils. All butter and extra Cayenne! It was amazing!
i am craving this soooo bad, is 1 am ….
Beluga caviar is beige, Chef John! Osetra is shiny black!
I thank you for having chnaged the intonation. A very good presentation!! Wish you all the best
Wonderful side dish, one of my favourites. Thank you, Chef John!
Trying this tonight.
Beluga lentils? Did chef John made his name up?
If you’re not soaking these overnight this is tough on the tummy!
Lentils Rock!!!
This is almost identical to your Lentil soup recipe. Just no bacon.
"I do judge behind youre back" that was funny af <3
Woohoo! Another video I’ve never seen
This needs a bacon base
I'm going to make this with green lentils (I happen to have them on hand). I'm sure it will still taste as good.
I would recommend soaking lentils overnight; helps you get their full nutritional benefit and reduces gastric irritation.

Can French lentils be used instead?
