protip: if it's not a spur the moment thing, I pre shred my potatoes for hash browns the night before (cause I always make hash for breakfast on the weekends) and put them in the fridge with a cheese cloth or tea towel to cover it (you don't want an air tight seal) to dry. frigid air from the refrigerator does really well at getting the moisture out and makes them crisper. plus I hate ringing out shredded potatoes, it's too tedious to me lol

Pretty good technique! I like it. Never have rinsed my potatoes before! Will be trying that tomorrow!

I love them outside crispy, and inside a little mushy. Doesn't have to be flashy, just plain ol'e potatoes that's it. I love em with ketchup or hot sauce. mmm great with overeasy eggs and bacon.

If you wanna have an easier time drying, use a salad spinner if you happen to have one! Does an amazing job!

In case some has tried drying this out in a dehydrator before frying to remove the moisture let me know. I wonder if it would come out crispier.

I knew about rinsing to get rid of the starch and then usually just squeezed them really good to get the water out. Never thought to then dry them further, nor to cover them while frying. Thanks for the tips!
