Canada has been hit by a number of romaine lettuce recalls. We set out to the U.S., where the majority of our leafy greens come from, to dig up why E. coli …
As a recent former Canadian lettuce producer it’s laughable to the difference in picking crew standards we had to adhere to compared to 12 muddy low paid Mexicans huddled over a super sanitary looking conveyer and yet they can import and flood Canadian grocery stores while not adhering to Canada GAP food safety standards. Not saying we shouldn’t have high standards but the unfair regulatory/wage/input costs vs American farms will or has obliterated our food security.
Grow your own greens at home folks. Would you risk your child eating a bad batch of lettuce and getting a permanent disability like the child in this video? I sure the heck won't. Romaine isn't even that hard to grow.
I have bought as little as possible of US foods, especially produce since late into 2016. This year 1 celery when I couldn't find Mexican and one container of mixed salad greens because I was having company.
It's what they do to packed food-chemical spraying to preserve the freshness. Pizza place didn't soak in water their lettuce then gave it a good rinse. They probably just took it out of the cellophane and chopped it up, thinking it was clean. Same thing happens to all pre packed greens.
Other civilizations have been practicing and explaining this to prepare fresh food and eating less cal and less proc seed food but us wants to learn this the hard way. Capitalism huh!

10:07 Just because those cattle have been there since the 1930's doesn't mean that germs won't find their way into the lettuce eventually.

We can't trust corporations for food productions.
