Hi! Thanks for making the recipe and such a great video. I’ve been watching you for years so this is so cool to see!!! I appreciate all you do and can’t wait to see more ❤️🔥🙏
Dude I got an idea. Put some of this chikun in the freeze drier. Turn it into powder the mix some gelatin and some vegan fats in it. Roll it into a thick square sheet and voila… You have chickun skin
I had my parents over for dinner last weekend. They are both meat eaters and dont like much of the vegan meats or cheeses Ive forced them to try in the past. I took a risk and last minute decided to make this real quick for them. I substituted the rice for rice noodles and some steamed veggies, also I bought a premade general tso sauce. But this seitan absolutely BLEW THEM AWAY. I made a double batch and not a single piece of these delicious nuggets was left. This recipe was amazing it went straight into my recipe book thank you soooo much.
I know MSG gets a bad rap many places, but I am just starting to work with homemade seitan and I found that using an adobo spice that contains MSG actually gives a nice chicken flavor to the "meat". I tried one without MSG and it wasn't quite the same.
I make this all the time now and the whole family loves it! Pro-tip: form the seitan ball into a long strand and then cut off pieces with a knife or cleaver. Much easier and quicker than tearing by hand!
Why did you add Wheat Flour along with the VWG? Isn’t this meant to be the easiest, quickest Seitan? Wouldn’t the easiest simply be VWG, water, knead then cook? You didn’t offer any explanation as to why you add flour.
#Lawdhammercy this ain't right… So much good food from creative imagination 😋 😍 Chinese restaurant in my hometown nyc used seitan method in a lot of dishes and we never noticed a thing. If it looks like chicken and tastes like chicken, customers didn't care. #Keepupthegreatwork
This recipe definitely is a keeper. I altered the seasonings to use what I had on hand. I used Old Bay, a pinch of MSG, and traditional Caribbean green seasoning (Shadow benny, garlic, pimento pepper and scotch bonnet). For the sauce I used a mixture of sweet thai chilli sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, soy sauce. This tasted really great
Years ago (in the 80's) when I could eat gluten I would mix straight gluten flour and veg broth then bake the loaf until brown and puffy. I'd slice it up and simmer it in broth with lots of sliced onions. I'd then add Original Longhorn BBQ sauce and grape jelly to the broth. It thickened up and was the BEST. Served with rice or as an open-face sandwich…MMM! No measurements, just eyeball it.
Ingredients: Seitan 100 g Vital Wheat gluten 30 g all purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp sage
Sauce: 3 tbs sweet soy sauce (or 2 tbs soy sauce, 1 tbs brown sugar, and 1/8 tsp ginger, melted 30 sec in microwave) sweet chili sauce 1-2 tsp sesame oil
1. Mix all dry seitan ingredients together 2. add warm water while mixing until you can form a dough ball (appx 1/2 cup). 3. Add enough oil to your pan to cover the bottom 4. tear off pieces of the seitan dough ball and add to the oil 5. brown seitan on all sides 6. cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes 7. lower the heat and add cover seitan with sweet chili sauce 8. add sweet soy sauce and sesame oil 9. toss the seitan with the sauce to mix 10. Plate with rice
Why would a vegan want to eat faux meat ? We all know the sick fucks are desperate to suck down some real crispy delicious Pig flesh. But torturing themselves with this muck must be hell on earth.
some notes: be careful not to tear too little pieces, you wil get a seitan crunch, not chicken bits. don't brown it too much, a little brown is enough. to cook it; add a little water just before you put the lid on to create steam and actually cooking it (just putting the lid on a frying pan is still frying, not cooking).
so thats what i found out 🙂 also, i didn't have any ground sage, i used ground coriander and also added msg. the result was really just kfc chicken taste (at least from the parts that werens too crispy to taste anything)
I have a question, you dont need to prepare seitan on steam for at least 40 minutes? I though it is neccessary? This meal looks so delicious, thank you =)

Mark you're amazing I've learned a lot from you and I'm a chef
A touch of green with green onions was missing. Nice recipe thanks!
Omgg this is so easy and soo good. Thank you so much!!
Isn't this just a tough fried dough, since you're not washing the starch out of the flour?
Yummy
Holy sh#ttt. This is insanely good! I coated them in buffalo sauce. so so good!!
so its fried fried chicken batter
Wrong needs to be soaking in water and kneaded a couple times so it becomes the same as though you used just gluten flour

This was mind blowingly exceptional! It has the texture of crispy pork! Thank you so much for this. It is definitely a new staple in our house.

i would do this very same recipe but with a bit of nutritional yeast in the mix
Looks great
Does it need sesame seed and sesame oil to be good? I’m asking this because I’m allergic to sesame seeds
thanks sauce stash

Is this healthy? I mean “pure” Flour basically?

Thanks for this fast quick recipe. Sometimes I just don’t have the ingredients
Satan recipe
2022 just tried and it's pretty great. Thanks for posting. Will be one of my go to from now on
How does this hold up if you make big batches for food prep?
What about the aftertaste of the vital wheat gluten?
Wow I just made the recipe and I’m impressed. My first time making seitan and it was so good! Added my own spices and ate them like popcorn bites

I LOVE your impersonations of angry meat eaters hahahaha

This is good! This is likely to become a frequent meal for me. I’ve been thinking about how to make a quick seitan dish, and this is it!

Your teaspoons are much bigger than my teaspoons.

Looks good, but wayyyy too much oil for one serving
Love your videos but even if I speak not bad English, you talk too fast ! Have a Mojitos before and will be perfect !
I just made it and it looks liek chicken nuggets, it tastes amazing! I love the texture and it has so much protein!
WHY NOT JUST FRY UP SOME CHICKEN???
puke
Just made this for dinner. It is great! Thank you for sharing the recipe.
omg mold these into a chicken fried steak patty and make some vegan jalapeño fake bacon cream gravy

Also surprised at how good it was. Just added some more crushed/finely chopped garlic at the end. I'm gonna try this as a sweet and sour pork recipe.
Thank you for sharing your recipe 😊. It sounds and looks great. I love watching your channel. I am vegan and when I have time love to cook. 👍 👍
